In our life, we always make wishes. We make wishes on our birthdays, hoping for good health and successful studies. We make wishes on every arrival of New Year, hoping that our wishes may be carried out and everything may go well. We make wishes on various occasions, such as hoping that we may pass our exams, attain certain achievements in our career, have brilliant publications, have a close relationship with our love, and have plenty of room to sit comfortably while dining out.

Paradoxically, we also always forget those wishes we ever made. We may not remember the wishes we made on our last birthday, at the last celebration of New Year, last month when the semester began, or even just last night. Every wish expresses the feelings and thoughts of the moment we made it. Once we listen to our voices and contents of those wish-making moments, we may recall a lot of details and stories in our memories. If we can record our wishes, we may once in a while taste both sweetness and bitterness of our memories.

From this perspective, our team devises “WishEgg.” In addition to recording wishes, WishEgg further connects the recorded wishes with gestures of wish-making. Gestures of holding WishEgg may not only suggest our feelings at the moment of wish-making but also serve as clues for evoking our memories. As a result, to embody the connection between gestures and wish-making, the core of our design consists in a combination of personal palmprints and wishes. The shape of egg corresponds to our conception of cultivating and rekindling memories of wishes. Moreover, the shape of egg may easily attract the user’s attention as well as provide a smooth sense of touch, which when put on the desk or other noticeable locations may encourage the user to actively hark back past memories. In this manner, WishEgg suggests a good way of interaction for us to enjoy the fun stimulated from reviewing our memories in retrospect and to savor a rich diversity of moments on our stage of life.
